Dress, Epic; Cardigan, JCrew; Pashmina, H&M; Belt, F21; Tights, ?; Flats, Target

My two weeks of hell are almost over.  And about to slam me into a wall, but that is beside the point.  Freedom will come in the form of a slutty Halloween costume on Saturday night, and I can't wait!

I'm super sleepy...I was up late last night conquering my mountain of laundry...it has been over a month.  Ouch.  And I had to make up a test this morning...needless to say, it was a long night.  Laundry done and test taken, I am relaxing for a bit on my couch with a glass of wine.  Glorious.  Can't wait for reverse happy hour tomorrow night with the girls...I'm debating a regular one, too.  Is that bad?

I wore this outfit today because I finally got this cardi back from my sister's apartment!  And I finally did laundry so it was clean.  I also have had a hard time with this dress that I didn't need to buy two years ago.  I finally took the elastic out of the hem to get rid of the bubble, and now it just hangs straight down instead of making me look more pear-shaped.  I also pulled out the trench that I got this past spring...the clouds were pretty threatening, so I didn't want to be caught completely defenseless in case of a sudden downpour.  The sleeves are an awkward length, so they are rolled.

PS: I can't wait for winter break.  And snow.

Since it is cooler out still (I'm waiting to wake up to typical Kansas weather with a warm day requiring sleeveless dresses in the end of October), I went with a sweater and jeans.  Love Fall.  Took a test, then went home to CLEAN my messy apartment...it looked like a tornado has made a couple of trips through my apartment over the past couple of days.  Whoops!

Random thought...

"It's always a bit discombobulating when people raise their voices in anger because they've gotten wind that designers are making and selling $25,000 dresses. After all, it's not as if the existence of a dress that costs as much as a car negates the availability of cute $25 frocks at Target. And it isn't as though edicts have been issued that all women must now dress like one of the superheroes on Balenciaga's runway.
For personal and sometimes tortured reasons -- I can't have it so no one else can! -- observers declare that they just don't understand the attraction of these strange and expensive clothes. That would be a fair argument if those same complainers lashed out at people who spend thousands of dollars on Redskins season tickets, vintage wines, first-edition books or midlife-crisis cars. But those industries don't stir nearly as much ire from people who are uninterested in them.
Everyone has a passion that is lost on others."

Top, Bag, Gap; Skirt, BR; Belt, F21; Tights, AE; Flats, Target; Earrings, Epic; Pashmina, H&M

I really wish we had an H&M in Kansas.  Saying that my pashmina is from there reminded me of that.  Why we need four F21 stores here, and no H&M store, blows my mind!  Ugh.  Whatever.

I had to work today, all day, of course...I woke up to a beautiful sunny morning, had coffee on my balcony and talked to my mom, and relaxed.  I finally got a good night of sleep (a whole 14 hours!), after the week of possibly 10 hours all together.  Ugh.  I really can't complain too much...I love stress!  So after my coffee, I go and start getting ready, and my head started pounding...I went into my living room, and the sky had turned black.  Love Kansas weather.  So, after the inevitable downpour began, I went to work and ran around for six hours.  Yes.

I've been trying to figure out how to transition this skirt into fall, and finally succeeded!  The herringbone tights were the key.  I have a new love of tights from American Eagle...they are super comfy.

I didn't get to post outfits from Friday or Saturday...Friday's outfit was a repeat.  Saturday's outfit was crap.  Not missing much!  Stay tuned for a new fun outfit on Friday...I get to meet the head designer for Banana!!!!!!!!!!!  OBVIOUSLY new outfits must be scouted...

10.22.2009 Fashion show Thursday!!!

Dress, Earrings,  BR; Belt, F21; Tights, AE; Booties, Sam Edelman; Pashmina, Paris

Since there was a fashion show downtown, I decided to dress up so that we could go to happy hour then to the show.  I LOVE this dress from last holiday at Banana.  I got it on super sale, and rarely get to wear it.  I'm trying to figure out how to wear it dressed down.  This is not.  I am also, if you haven't noticed, OBSESSED with my lace tights.

On another note, my hair is FINALLY long enough to pull completely back.  A few more months, and it might be long enough to officially be past my shoulders!  Finally.  Here is a close-up of my little up-do (with crappy bobby-pinning on my part) and my earrings.

I had my Halston presentation today.  It was rainy.  Carrying a mat board with pictures on it in the rain is something I strongly advise against.  It was almost a disaster...

I then went to the fabric store for my next project.  I have decided to make what I can't find:  the perfect slouchy boyfriend blazer.  Wish me luck!

After spending too much time and money at the fabric store, I decided it was time to feed my hungry tummy.  My friend Liz came and picked me up, and we went for sushi and dirty martinis.  Then beer and trivia.  Then just beer.  Here is her super cute outfit, and super cute ring, all from F21, of course...

We both felt that braving the rainy day in cute outfits with heels warrented drinking on a Wednesday night, no?

Jeans, Gap; Blazer, Silence + Noise; Cami, GapBody; Scarf, Paris; Flats, Target

Today was nothing too exciting.  I didn't have to work, so I just kind of hung out all day.  Finished stuff for my presentation tomorrow.  Thrilling, I know, right???

Oh, and I got an email from an old friend today.  It was due to a sad event, but it was terrific to hear from her.  Keeping in touch with people from past lives is lovely.
