Dress, Epic; Cardigan, JCrew; Pashmina, H&M; Belt, F21; Tights, ?; Flats, Target

My two weeks of hell are almost over.  And about to slam me into a wall, but that is beside the point.  Freedom will come in the form of a slutty Halloween costume on Saturday night, and I can't wait!

I'm super sleepy...I was up late last night conquering my mountain of laundry...it has been over a month.  Ouch.  And I had to make up a test this morning...needless to say, it was a long night.  Laundry done and test taken, I am relaxing for a bit on my couch with a glass of wine.  Glorious.  Can't wait for reverse happy hour tomorrow night with the girls...I'm debating a regular one, too.  Is that bad?

I wore this outfit today because I finally got this cardi back from my sister's apartment!  And I finally did laundry so it was clean.  I also have had a hard time with this dress that I didn't need to buy two years ago.  I finally took the elastic out of the hem to get rid of the bubble, and now it just hangs straight down instead of making me look more pear-shaped.  I also pulled out the trench that I got this past spring...the clouds were pretty threatening, so I didn't want to be caught completely defenseless in case of a sudden downpour.  The sleeves are an awkward length, so they are rolled.

PS: I can't wait for winter break.  And snow.

Since it is cooler out still (I'm waiting to wake up to typical Kansas weather with a warm day requiring sleeveless dresses in the end of October), I went with a sweater and jeans.  Love Fall.  Took a test, then went home to CLEAN my messy apartment...it looked like a tornado has made a couple of trips through my apartment over the past couple of days.  Whoops!

Random thought...

"It's always a bit discombobulating when people raise their voices in anger because they've gotten wind that designers are making and selling $25,000 dresses. After all, it's not as if the existence of a dress that costs as much as a car negates the availability of cute $25 frocks at Target. And it isn't as though edicts have been issued that all women must now dress like one of the superheroes on Balenciaga's runway.
For personal and sometimes tortured reasons -- I can't have it so no one else can! -- observers declare that they just don't understand the attraction of these strange and expensive clothes. That would be a fair argument if those same complainers lashed out at people who spend thousands of dollars on Redskins season tickets, vintage wines, first-edition books or midlife-crisis cars. But those industries don't stir nearly as much ire from people who are uninterested in them.
Everyone has a passion that is lost on others."

Top, Bag, Gap; Skirt, BR; Belt, F21; Tights, AE; Flats, Target; Earrings, Epic; Pashmina, H&M

I really wish we had an H&M in Kansas.  Saying that my pashmina is from there reminded me of that.  Why we need four F21 stores here, and no H&M store, blows my mind!  Ugh.  Whatever.

I had to work today, all day, of course...I woke up to a beautiful sunny morning, had coffee on my balcony and talked to my mom, and relaxed.  I finally got a good night of sleep (a whole 14 hours!), after the week of possibly 10 hours all together.  Ugh.  I really can't complain too much...I love stress!  So after my coffee, I go and start getting ready, and my head started pounding...I went into my living room, and the sky had turned black.  Love Kansas weather.  So, after the inevitable downpour began, I went to work and ran around for six hours.  Yes.

I've been trying to figure out how to transition this skirt into fall, and finally succeeded!  The herringbone tights were the key.  I have a new love of tights from American Eagle...they are super comfy.

I didn't get to post outfits from Friday or Saturday...Friday's outfit was a repeat.  Saturday's outfit was crap.  Not missing much!  Stay tuned for a new fun outfit on Friday...I get to meet the head designer for Banana!!!!!!!!!!!  OBVIOUSLY new outfits must be scouted...

10.22.2009 Fashion show Thursday!!!

Dress, Earrings,  BR; Belt, F21; Tights, AE; Booties, Sam Edelman; Pashmina, Paris

Since there was a fashion show downtown, I decided to dress up so that we could go to happy hour then to the show.  I LOVE this dress from last holiday at Banana.  I got it on super sale, and rarely get to wear it.  I'm trying to figure out how to wear it dressed down.  This is not.  I am also, if you haven't noticed, OBSESSED with my lace tights.

On another note, my hair is FINALLY long enough to pull completely back.  A few more months, and it might be long enough to officially be past my shoulders!  Finally.  Here is a close-up of my little up-do (with crappy bobby-pinning on my part) and my earrings.

I had my Halston presentation today.  It was rainy.  Carrying a mat board with pictures on it in the rain is something I strongly advise against.  It was almost a disaster...

I then went to the fabric store for my next project.  I have decided to make what I can't find:  the perfect slouchy boyfriend blazer.  Wish me luck!

After spending too much time and money at the fabric store, I decided it was time to feed my hungry tummy.  My friend Liz came and picked me up, and we went for sushi and dirty martinis.  Then beer and trivia.  Then just beer.  Here is her super cute outfit, and super cute ring, all from F21, of course...

We both felt that braving the rainy day in cute outfits with heels warrented drinking on a Wednesday night, no?

10.20.2009

Jeans, Gap; Blazer, Silence + Noise; Cami, GapBody; Scarf, Paris; Flats, Target

Today was nothing too exciting.  I didn't have to work, so I just kind of hung out all day.  Finished stuff for my presentation tomorrow.  Thrilling, I know, right???

Oh, and I got an email from an old friend today.  It was due to a sad event, but it was terrific to hear from her.  Keeping in touch with people from past lives is lovely.

Top, F21; Jeans, F21; Scarf, Banana; Sunglasses, Prada; Flats, Target

Monday was a bit of a dull day.  I had a presentation.  I don't really remember wearing this.  Oh well.  I thought I dressed up more...apparently not!  I love this black top...It is super comfortable.  I like how it just hangs straight down.  This is also one of my favorite scarves...it is finally starting to get cold enough to wear winter scarves yay!

I am working on a presentation over Halston's Spring 2010 collection.  I am in love with all the silky, flowing dresses.  Gorgeous.  And they happen to be in colors that I can wear...if only I could afford to wear Halston...vintage or new...boo :(  Here are my favorites...

I just love the layers.  Love them.  And the shape of the dress is really unique:

For a dress that I would actually wear, this is perfect.  Throw it on with gladiators in the summer, or pair it with boots, tights, a blazer, and a chunky scarf and you have a perfect fall get-up:

Just to have fun and daydream that I am on a fantastic beach in Greece:

Perfect for a night out.  I can see it now...on the top of some fancy building in NYC in the early summer heat, with Cosmopolitan in hand, naturally...

Hmm...

So...it has been a bit since I have posted.  Obnoxious.  I have had several outfits that I have really liked, and have had absolutely NO time to photograph them and post them.  Sad.  Oh, and I have had the mother of all colds for about two weeks.  Finally, I got some antibiotics, and feel much better!  My goal is to post every day this week.  Here goes...

Top, BR; Skirt, F21; Earrings, BR; Tights, American Eagle; Belt, random ribbon; Flats, Target

My dad was in town for the weekend, so I got up early and went to breakfast with him.  Since I was up so early, I had plenty of time to get ready.  I actually did my hair...my mom sent me a flat iron, and I can now have fun with my hair!  I kept the outfit kind of simple, and had fun with my favorite earrings that I never get to wear and my new favorite lace tights.  Love lace.  Obsessing over it ever since I saw the cover of WWD on October 6th.  LOVE.  I also wore this ivory top that I bought last holiday.  I just took the tags off of it today, and I love the detailing on the neck with the seams.

PS It is cold out and I AM LOVING IT!!!!!!!!!!

Case of the Sundays...

Dress, La Rok; Cardigan, BR; Necklaces, UO and F21; Pashmina, H&M; Flats, BCBG

I can feel myself getting sick.  Ugh.  I got called into work (on my day off) for a whole two hours.  So, I kept what I slept in on, and threw on my vest, a pashmina and some necklaces.  There you go.  That is what they get for making me deal with crabbies for two hours.  Oh well.  I do, in hindsight, like this one a lot...perfect for warmer fall days.  With riding boots and tights.  Hmmm....

Spandex on Saturdays, oh my!

Top, Standard; Cardigan, F21; Belt, thrifted; Leggings, Poof; Flats, BCBG

Since I had class super duper early and long today, I went comfy to work.  The fam is still in town, so I had about two minutes to put some decent clothes on and jet off to a quick lunch with them before becoming a Banana Slave for a day.  After work (they let me off early!), I headed over to a nice and relaxing barbeque dinner with the grandma, aunt and mother.  Yum!

Art Fair Festivities

Boots, Vintage; Top, Standard; Pashmina, somewhere in Paris; Bag, Hobo; SKIRT, ALEXANDER MCQUEEN!!!!!!

Since some fam was in town, we decided to dress our happy butts up and head uptown to the Plaza Art Fair.  Note to self:  never again am I drinking that many cocktails.  And I am going to invent a breathalizer (sp?) for phones.  Ha.  Anywho, we headed to a little Italian bistro for some happy hour happiness, then walked around a bit.  It was a glorious day off.

Now, the most important thing about tonight.  The skirt.  LOVE the skirt.  Bananas.  Crazy Bananas.  Got it on SUPER sale a few weeks ago, and have been waiting for this art fair to wear it.  Only problem is that it is a bit hard to walk in.  But it is sooooooo pretty and I am sooooooo in love so I don't even care.

My little seestor and I.  Aren't we cute?

Is it Friday yet?

Dress, F21; Cardigan, Gap; Gladiators (hidden), F21; Necklaces, BR and F21; Sunglasses, Prada

NO.  No, it is not Friday yet.  Ugh.  Oh well...it is less than 12 hours away, thankfully.  I can't believe that I have yet to post anything this week.  Whoops!  Today, I just had a test, then work.  I just spent 12 bucks at Panera on lunch, and I am not happy!  12 dollars!  Oh well...I spent entirely way too much money on clothes last week.  Oopsies Poopsies!  Hopefully, the remaining two items will be worn this weekend.  It is the Plaza Art Fair, which is, after all, a glorious excuse to dress up and have fun!  More on that to come!

And, yes.  I am OFFICIALLY obsessed with maxi dresses.  BAH-nanas.  Love them.  And love the Halston Spring 2010 RTW line.

Friday meeting madness

Dress, Mitzy London; Pearls, Italy; Jacket, Silence + Noise; Gladiators, Sam Edelman

For my Friday, I chose this new toy...my new grey maxi dress!  I love it.  I will be wearing it probably weekly.  Obsessed.  We had a meeting today, and there are entirely way too many points to cover for our fashion show, but oh well.  It just means I am officially a busy body until February 19th.  After the meeting, I ran over to work for a bit, then home to bed.  Early day on Saturday.  Football game.  Tailgating starts at 7 am.  Yes.  Good night!

Mass Street Lovin'

Top, Gap; Earrings, Epic; Jeans, F21; Belt, Gap; Flats (not shown), BCBG

Just wore this outfit out for a bit of schmoozing in beautiful Lawrence.  Love that town.  Especially on Thursday nights, with good friends and half price martinis.  Sadly, no pictures were taken downtown of outfits, just of friends.  Those will be on facebook soon!

Class and yet another free day...

Dress, Gap; Boots, Vintage; Tank, BR; Scarf, Banana; Earrings, Epic

I didn't have to work today, so I wore this to class.  No idea why.  I could definitely wear this to work.  I definitely have not worn this dress in a while.  It was a fantastic lazy day outfit.

Shopping Sunday

Boots, vintage; Leggings, Poof; Tank, F21; Vest, BR; Scarf, H&M; Earrings, Epic

So, instead of working all day today, like I normally do on Sundays, I decided to spend my day off as a bum.  I went shopping.  Hung out with one of my life coaches for a bit.  Hung out with a shopping buddy for a bit.  Then, I went to dinner and watched the weekly Rachel Zoe Project and Project Runway.  Perfect day.

Date night

Pants, F21; Gladiators, Sam Edelman; Cardigan, J Crew; Tee, H&M; Necklace, BR; Bag, Sisley; Earrings, Bahamas

After spending, quite literally, my ENTIRE day sitting at a computer on campus (I do not recommend it), and drinking way too much coffee, I finally finished my personal wardrobe inventory!!!  Grand total (or damage): 688 items, and just over $14,000.  Hmm.  I don't know how good or bad that is.  Oh well.  I have a lot of clothing, yet somehow, I never seem to have anything to wear!

I have been searching high and low for a pair of harem pants that don't make me look like MC Hammer.  I went to F21 today, and found some!  And they are super comfy.  And I love them.

After class, I had a wee bit of a meet and greet with a fun boy.  I had two cosmos and a glass of wine and some spin dip, and it was a great night!  We'll see...

Labor Day Laziness

Earrings, H&M; Top, UO; Skirt, Banana; Shoes (not shown), F21

I didn't have time to post this yesterday.  My lazy Labor Day was filled to the brim with pure nothing.  First, my padre arrived in town, with his jeep full of goodies to go in my fridge.  Did I already mention that?  There is a solid chance that I did.  Anywho, we went to lunch at Dean and Deluca...my official new favorite restaurant.  Yum.  And healthy, too!  Then, I got to cruise around town in his friend's little red Audi TT convertible.  I took Em with me, and we acted like snobby brats and it was gloriously relaxing to zoom around with the wind blowing and the sun shining.  I even got a bit of color...

...only to come home to start the mother of all projects.  A personal inventory of everything I own that pertains to apparel.  EVERYTHING.  Here is just a glimpse into what I own...I'll give you the results later...

Sunday Funday, courtesy of Pomeroy

Dress, Gap; Tank, Banana Republic; Earrings, F21; Belt, Banana Republic; Boots, Vintage; Bangles, Market in Nassau

Part one of my Sunday Funday started out with a lovely morning sleeping in, then going to work.  After work, my dad brought me a TON of food from home.  Yay to having a full refrigerator right now!  I feel like I'm at some other apartment when I open my fridge now.  Ha. Is that sad?  After work and dinner with dad...I headed up to P&L for a free concert with Pomeroy.

Shirt, Banana Republic; Earrings, UO; Belt, Gap; Jeans, F21; Boots, vintage; Clutch, Banana Republic

Since it is starting to become more fall-like (finally), I decided to cover up a bit when I headed downtown.  Sadly, my foot went through my jeans while I was getting dressed, so I don't know how much longer they will hold up.  Oh well.

I also got to run into my old roommate and her friend.  Aren't they lovely?  I love running into people!

I also happened to run into this one in between stops in my bouncing between bars.  Lead singer of Pomeroy...pretty cute up close.  And I love the glasses!  On that note, good night!

Skirt, Banana Republic; Shoes, BCBG; Top, Express; Belt, F21

I wasn't able to take a picture until the end of the loooooooong day that was Saturday.  Class from 8 am to 2 pm, then work til 4.  Phew!  Anywho, I couldn't decide on anything comfortable, so instead, I chose my FAVORITE skirt from last winter.  Not comfortable...I can barely walk in it!  Oh well...it is pretty.  Very Carrie Bradshaw, circa SATC The Movie...sadly, I did not have fabulous plans, as Ms Bradshaw would have had.
