ROCK CHALK LAWRENCE

I BEAT THE STORM!!!  Ha...I had to jump out of bed and straight into my car to make it here, but I am on vacation!!!  Yay!!!  I didn't even get to shower before I left, but whatever.  After two gigantic Starbucks, a blueberry muffin, and one near spin out on the turnpike in an ice storm, I have arrived in Lawrence.  I'm now sitting in a coffee shop on Mass St and drinking hot tea.  Loves!  Plans for the weekend:

Sweet Sixteen...KU winning, then playing in the Elite Eight on Sunday.  I'll still be here :)
Seeing my old Gappers
Mass Street...need I say more?
Booking my plane ticket to CALI!
Antiquing and vintage/thrift shopping downtown
Buying a camera
Hanging out with beautiful company :)
Possibly sledding on the hill, thanks to the friggin blizzard that almost killed me today
Possibly sushi train in KC Saturday night.  Yum.  Food baby.

I LOVE THIS TOWN!

Happy birthday to me!

So...sorry for the lack of posting...I've been busy recovering from my birthday extravaganza in Oldtown with B.  It was a bit ridiculous.  I'm never drinking red bull again.  Or wearing nice shoes.  Four inch heels and brick roads do not get along very well.  All in all, it was quite a successful evening.  I even met the city commissioner.  From some small town in western Kansas.  I immediately sat back down.  Haha...pictures from my birthday and Ash's wedding shower to come soon...I promise!

PS I bought Twilight.  And I have watched it multiple times.  Can't wait for the next movie...here is a picture of my husband to be...

You can call me Mrs. Pattinson, thank you very much!

Almost 24...

So...in the spirit of turning 24 tomorrow, I have a list of things I want to do.

1.  Renew my DL.  If I don't do this, then I won't have a way into bars after midnight tomorrow night.
2.  Return stuff at work and at Old Navy.
3.  Go to the gym.  Maybe take a yoga class?
4.  Buy the Twilight DVD.  CAN'T WAIT.  And buy a camera.
5.  Watch Twilight DVD.  CAN'T WAIT.
6.  Make a dress to wear out for my big birthday bash.
7.  Make a necklace to wear out for my big birthday bash.
8.  Buy fake eyelashes with Brandie.
9.  Manicure with Brandie.
10.  Dinner?  I want SUSHI!!!!!!!!!!
11.  Drink.

PS I bought a TON of brooches from some antique stores, and an estate sale.  I'm making necklaces out of them.  Then selling them on etsy.  Yes.  Pictures to come soon.

HAPPY ST PATS DAY!

So...Happy St Patrick's day to all you Irish ones!  In the spirit of celebrating my Irishness, I wore my favorite green scarf from Afghanistan today.  I originally bought a floral top, but judging from the horrified reactions from one of my life coaches, I decided against that.  It will be returned shortly.  Instead, I opted for my grey high-waisted pencil skirt, a white shirt, navy heels, and my beloved scarf.  Tonight, I'll be donning one of two outfits...

Option A:  My skinny Hudsons, a grey tank top, gladiators, and green scarf.

Option B:  My new grey and white maxi dress, gladiators, and green scarf.

It was decided today at work that I shall wear the scarf.  Everyone will be prancing around in green obnoxious shirts.  A green scarf is unexpected and will hopefully look unique in the sea of Kelley Green that I am about to dive into.

Green beer, here I come...cheerio!

So much for making my weekly resolutions...I was definitely 45 minutes late for work today.  Whoops! :(

Anywho, I'm now officially on the hunt for a new camera.  Hmm.  I want one right now.  So I can take pictures of my outfits everyday :)

When I finally found out I was running late, I had to dress in a hurry...I wore my new navy dress with a skinny silver braid belt, a grey cardy, my gladiators, and my new feather necklace.  Hair went up, thankfully I have not cut it yet!  Blah.  So that was my day.  Oh, and did I mention that I can not move, since joining the gym???  Ouch!

Going to see Shopaholic now...my life story in 1 hour and 55 minutes.

Blah

So, here's hoping...

This weekend was DULL.  Boring.  Here are my goals for the week:

  • Not be late to work.  I have some cute new additions to my closet that should make getting to work on-time a bit easier.
  • Find another job.  I am poor, and need money to spend on new clothes, duh.
  • Find some fantastic vintage shops in town.  I am poor, and hopefully can find somewhere with fantastic hidden jewels.
  • Plan my next escape from the Ta...shopping on Mass is fantastic.
  • Work out every day.
  • Start making something fun.  My upcoming trip to Lawrence and my trip to Cali for Coachella are both reasons to start brainstorming for some fantastic new dresses.
  • Go antiquing (sp???)
  • CLEAN MY ROOM.
  • Celebrate St. Patrick's day with my new fun floral shirt and a gigantic green beer.
  • Celebrate my birthday and paint the town!
Hmm...think I can accomplish all of this?  We'll see...

Coachella-ella-ella

I might go to Coachella.  Yay.  Many fantastic summer dresses need to be made.  Hmmm...

Ooopsies, poopsies...

First mistake: Not wearing my blinders today at work.

Second mistake:  Going to the mall when I got off work.

Third mistake:  Realizing that I have (had) money in my account that could either be saved or spent.  I'll let you guess what I did...

In my defense, I've been in search of some fun, boho summery items that are springy enough to wear right now.  And I succeeded!  I picked up a couple of things at work, but hit gold at Forever 21...one crochet top and a couple of beaded, feathery necklaces later and I am in business!  I also grabbed a white linen top and some cute striped pants, a dress to wear to a friend's wedding shower next weekend, some super duper cheap jeans and a pair of slacks.  Hmm...oh, and some underwear.  FANTASTIC now my wallet hates me!  Here are some pics of what I got, and now my debit card is no longer in my planner.  For a while, at least...

On a brighter note, I am joining a gym!  Finally!  Haha...it's about damn time!  I would much rather not pay for a membership, but couldn't resist since the boys there are so cute.  I now have an excuse to find cute workout clothes ;)

The God of all Shoes. Coach's Florence Shoe. Yes, please!

OHMYGODSHOES

I was bored at work today, and after freezing for a couple of hours and talking with a pal, I realized why I felt so drab. Not only was the weather dreary today, so was my outfit. I wore a black dress, black tights (quickly changed to grey sweats the minute I got home), and a big grey sweater. Nice and comfy, accessorized by a brown and black scarf and chunky chain necklace. The one thing missing??? Cute shoes. Not my warm chocolate Uggs.
I WANT NEW SHOES!!!!!!!!

It has been far too long since I have made an addition, or additions, to my shoe wardrobe, with the exception of a new pair of running shoes. Spring is right around the corner, with summer following closely behind. Now I want something that will make my feet happy and springy...and maybe a wee bit uncomfortable...

There is one pair of shoes that I am lusting after. Alas, they have disappeared off the web! I saw them in a magazine...not sure which one...I read way too many to keep track of where I saw what. I fell in love. They are Coach heels. Super strappy and super high. Snakeskin. Gold. Copper. Strappy. Heaven. Missing from my closet :( Since I can't find them, I will lust after these until I do find them!

Chinese Laundry's Bounty ($130) in brown will play the role of the obnoxiously chunky gladiator heel

BCBGMAXAZRIA's Ashlee ($250) is a fantastic nude heel that will go perfectly with all summer dresses at night
Dolce Vita's Caprice in black ($90) are an easy way to ease into the fringe fad. I'm not completely sold on fringe, but with denim shorts and a thin white tee, these would be great!

Pour La Victoire's Bethanie ($275) might have to be the replacement for the Coach shoes that I can't seem to find. I love these (almost as much).

Sam Edelman's Ianna flats ($99) in Firecracker and in Green are great for those landlocked like myself. They will go well with cute shorts or skirts when it is warm, but work during the chilly spring and summer mornings in Kansas with a pair of skinny jeans.

Wanted's Off in bronze ($50) might be my new summer staple. I need a bronze pair to go along with my silver gladiators from last summer...they will be worn every single day, until they fall apart.

My current obsession...

I have a completely new obsession, and a completely unexpected one, at that. Elizabeth and James, the new-ish Olsen line, is TO. DIE. FOR. Obsessed. Here are pictures of my favorite things. A shout out to those pictures that did not make it in...all the perfect lightweight, fluttery tees and cute blazers...there are way too many to picture, and way too many fabulous items to choose from. I had to draw the line somewhere...I am going to try to make my own versions of some of my absolute faves...pictures of those to come soon. If I decide to be un-lazy for a rainy day. Like today. Hmm...here goes!

This dress is super cute...I LOVE the idea of the tulip being the dominating point of the dress, instead of just a shape for the skirt. Plus, the fabric used is perfect for this shape in spring and summer.

I am also on the hunt for the perfect leather motorcycle jacket. This one isn't too bad...I love the sleeves, and the zipper details. The semi-cowl neck is very unique for leather...which makes me think this might not be the most comfortable leather jacket in the world. But, if it looks good, then who the hell cares about comfort???
I would wear this out over liquid leggings or cute little shorts and super high, strappy platforms, then go home and sleep in it. Perfection.

A sexier version of the top above...gorgeous lace detailing makes this top an easy option for day OR night. Or both, duh!

Hello, perfect low-back dress! Oh, where have you been all of my life???

I. Love. This. How fun would this be to add a ton of chunky, statement necklaces to? Plus, the whole idea of a super mini with a long, not-so-fitted vest over a plain tee is fun.

A nod to my never-ending obsession with maxi dresses. This one is super awesome, with convertible straps that you can do a ton of stuff with. I could entertain myself for hours before going out in this one!

This is just fun.
